Esther Sholl

She finds the soul in the materials, the palette, the honest detail. Esther designs every renovation — precise, warm, obsessively intentional.

We plan every room. Walls open toward the light, materials are chosen once and chosen honestly, and nothing arrives that the house does not belong.

What we believe

Original details should be preserved

Whenever possible we preserve the moldings, the built-ins, the hardwood that has aged for a century. These things cannot be replicated with any honesty.

Materials must tell the truth

Wood should look like wood. Stone should feel like stone. We never use imitation materials just to save a buck. The hand should know what it is touching.

Light is always something we consider

A room lives or dies by its light. We open walls, enlarge windows, and let the California sun do the work that no fixture can.

A house must stand on its own structure

We never hide problems behind drywall. If a foundation needs work, we do it. A beautiful room built on a weak frame, it's got to be fixed.

Restraint is the highest form of luxury

We leave space for the next owner to breathe. A home should feel finished but never full. Silence is a material too.

We build for decades, not for a sale

Every choice we make is measured against time. Will this patina gracefully? Will this hardware feel right in twenty years? That is the most important test.
